◉ PRODUCT SPECIFICATION
1. Standard Designations
UNS: S32205 / S31803
ASTM: A789 / A790 (For tubular products) | Sheet/Strip to A240
EURONORM: 1.4462
JIS: SUS 329J3L
GB/T: 022Cr22Ni5Mo3N
2. Chemical Composition (% by weight, Typical)
3. Mechanical Properties (at Room Temperature, for Annealed Condition)
(Note: The yield strength of 2205 is approximately twice that of standard austenitic stainless steels like 304 or 316.)
4. Physical Properties (Typical)
5. Corrosion Resistance
Stress Corrosion Cracking (SCC): Excellent resistance to chloride-induced SCC, far superior to 300-series austenitic steels.
Pitting & Crevice Corrosion: Outstanding resistance due to high PREN value.
PREN = %Cr + 3.3×%Mo + 16×%N ≈ 34-36
General Corrosion: Resistance is comparable to 316L, and superior in many environments, particularly those containing chlorides.
6. Available Product Range (Coil)
7. Common Surface Finishes for Coil
2D: A dull, matte finish produced by heat treatment (annealing) and pickling, suitable for industrial applications.
2B: A smooth, moderately reflective finish achieved by a final light cold-roll pass (skin-pass) after annealing and pickling. This is the most common finish for coils.
8. Typical Applications
Oil & Gas Industry: Pipeline systems, pressure vessels, heat exchangers.
Chemical Process Industry: Tanks, reactors, and process piping.
Marine & Offshore: Seawater piping systems, desalination equipment.
Pulp & Paper Industry: Digesters, bleach plants.
Chemical Tankers: Transportation of corrosive cargoes.
