310S Stainless Steel Plate
310S (UNS S31008) is a highly alloyed austenitic stainless steel designed for high-temperature service. Its key characteristic is the high chromium (Cr) and nickel (Ni) content, which provides outstanding oxidation resistance and strength at elevated temperatures. It can withstand repeated heating and cooling cycles, making it a premier choice for applications in furnace and heat treatment industries.

4. High-Temperature Properties

This is the key advantage of 310S.

  • Maximum Continuous Service Temperature: Up to 1150°C (2100°F) in air.

  • Oxidation Resistance: Excellent resistance to scaling and oxidation due to the high chromium content, which forms a stable, protective oxide layer.

  • Creep Strength: Good strength and resistance to deformation under mechanical stress at high temperatures.

6. Corrosion Resistance

  • High-Temperature Oxidation: Outstanding, this is its primary function.

  • General Corrosion: Good resistance to many oxidizing acids and atmospheric corrosion at room temperature, superior to 304/304H.

  • Sulfidation & Carburization: Offers better resistance than most other standard austenitic stainless steels, though not as good as specialized heat-resistant alloys.
